Medical Equipment

Physicians Transport Service utilizes the best equipment of any private ambulance service in Northern Virginia, extending patient care far beyond the hospital.

Philips HeartStart Monitor
IV Pumps
Newport Ventilator
Autovent Ventilator

Philips HeartStart MRx

PTS has recently converted to using the Philips HeartSmart MRx monitor/defibrillator.  The HeartSmart monitor allows for many more advanced features than our previous monitors, allowing for standard and 12-lead EKG monitoring, external pacing, internal arterial line (A-Line) pressure monitoring, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring (capnography).  Units also come equipped with blood pressure cuff and oxygen saturation (SpO2) probe.

The HeartStart has a bright multi-color display, performs automatic self-checks at regular intervals, and can be used as either a manual defibrillator or an automated external defibrillator (AED).  The units even have the ability to store patient event information, and then upload it to a computer via Bluetooth for further analysis and quality control.

IV Pumps

We utilize Baxter infusion pumps on all Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Critical Care units, which are compatible with those used by most hospital facilities we serve.  This allows the ALS or CCM crew to exactly match the settings and infusion rates being administered in-hospital, and also prevents the need to change IV tubing.

Newport Ventilator

PTS Critical Care units carry the Newport HT50 portable ventilator from Newport NMI.  This highly advanced portable ventilator allows for the safe and effective ventilation of patients who have been newly intubated or need advanced airway support.  The ventilator features variable oxygen concentrations via a venturi dial, A/CMV, SIMV and SPONT modes, variable tidal volume & inspiratory volume, PEEP and CPAP.

Autovent 3000 Ventilators

Many PTS medic units carry the Autovent 3000 portable ventilator.  This lightweight ventilator is generally used for patients who are long-term vent patients in need of transport from facility-to-facility.  The Autovent 3000 features adjustable tidal volume and frequency, and allows for adult & child modes using the built-in dial.
